The best sex games for couples aren’t really about winning. They’re about giving you both permission to be a bit braver than usual, with the structure of a game taking some of the awkwardness out of asking for what you want.

Everything below works with things you probably already have: cards, dice, a timer, paper, and something to use as a blindfold. The games start flirty and get kinkier as you go down the list, and there are a few at the end for when you’re apart.

Before you play: three ground rules

    1. Any prompt can be skipped. No penalty, no explanation needed.
    2. Agree a safeword that stops the whole game, not just the current turn.
    3. Talk about limits first. If you haven’t already, fill in our yes/no/maybe list separately and compare. Then you’ll both know which dares are fair game.

    Flirty foreplay games

    1. Kinky truth or dare

Take turns choosing truth (“What’s a fantasy you’ve never told me?”) or dare (“Kiss me somewhere you never have”). Keep it light at first and escalate as you both warm up. It’s the classic for a reason: half the fun is what you learn. Out of ideas? Our online truth or dare has over 340 prompts sorted by heat level, with timers and room for your own cards, or print our truth or dare cards for a phone-free night. Want a list instead? See our truth or dare questions and dares for couples.

    2. Would you rather

“Would you rather be blindfolded or tied up?” “Would you rather give orders or follow them?” Easy, low-pressure, and surprisingly revealing, since every answer is a hint about what to try next. Our would you rather game lets you each answer and compare, and we have 100 would you rather questions for couples to ask out loud.

    3. Never have I ever

Take turns saying something you’ve never done (“Never have I ever been tied up”). If your partner has done it, they take a sip, lose a point, or tell the story. It’s a gentle way to find out about each other’s past and curiosities without anyone having to ask directly. Try our kinky Never Have I Ever if you’d like ready-made statements, or our lists of never have I ever questions for couples and dirty never have I ever questions.

    4. The hot seat

One of you sits in the “hot seat” for two minutes while the other asks rapid-fire sexy questions: favorite place to be kissed, a fantasy in three words, the most attractive thing the other person does. Answer fast, without overthinking, then swap. Either of you can say “pass”.

    5. The fantasy jar

Each of you writes fantasies, big or small, on slips of paper and drops them in a jar. Draw one each week. Only include things you’d genuinely be up for, and agree that either of you can put one back.

    6. The foreplay timer

Set a timer for 15 minutes. Until it goes off, anything goes except sex. The anticipation does the work. Make it 20 next time, and fill it with our foreplay games.

    7. Strip cards

Play any quick card game (high card, war, or poker if you know it). The loser of each round removes an item of clothing or does a dare. Simple, silly, and a good warm-up. Our card games for couples has 20 more, from gin rummy to favor poker.

    8. Treasure hunt

Hide a trail of notes around your home, each with a clue to the next one and a small promise (“Good for one kiss, wherever you like”). The last note leads to the bedroom, or wherever you’d like the evening to end up. It takes ten minutes to set up and makes the whole evening feel planned.

    Sensation games

    9. Blindfold guessing game

Blindfold one partner and touch them with different things: a feather, an ice cube, silk, warm breath, fingertips. They guess what it is; every right answer earns a reward. A gentle introduction to sensation play.

    10. Blindfold taste test

Blindfold your partner and feed them small bites: a strawberry, a square of chocolate, whipped cream, a slice of mango. They guess each one, and you choose where the next kiss lands. Check for food allergies first, and keep food away from genitals, where sugar can cause irritation or infection.

    11. Hot and cold

Alternate an ice cube with warm breath, a warm hand, or a warm drink sipped just before a kiss. Take turns, and let the receiver call “hotter” or “colder”. See our temperature play guide for more ideas.

    12. Body writing

Use a finger to write a word or instruction on your partner’s back. If they guess it, they get to do it to you. Slow, intimate, and an easy way to ask for something without saying it out loud.

    13. Massage roulette

Roll a die twice: the first roll picks a body part (shoulders, back, hands, feet, legs, your choice), the second picks how many minutes of massage it gets. The person on the table can ask for slower, firmer, or “stay there”. Swap halfway, or make the loser of another game pay out in massages.

    Dice, card and board games

    14. Sex dice

Roll two dice. Assign actions to one (kiss, lick, massage, nibble, blow, tease) and body parts to the other (neck, ears, inner thighs, chest, back, your choice). Roll and do what they say for 30 seconds. Write your own lists so every option is something you’d both enjoy, or roll our online sex dice.

    15. DIY sex card game

Each of you writes ten prompts on index cards: questions, dares, positions, or actions. Shuffle them together and take turns drawing. You’ll both get surprised, and you’ll learn a lot from what the other person wrote. Our sex card game guide has ten more ways to play, most with an ordinary deck.

    16. Dare Jenga

Write a dare on some of the blocks of a stacking-block game: easy ones (“Kiss my neck”) and spicier ones. Each time you pull a marked block, you do the dare. Whoever knocks the tower over owes the other a favor of their choosing, within your agreed limits.

    17. Board games with stakes

Play a game you already own, like chess, Scrabble, or Connect Four, with stakes agreed up front: the winner picks what happens next, or each captured piece earns a kiss. It turns an ordinary game night into a slow tease, and you don’t need anything new.

    Kinkier games

For 22 more, from bondage games to spanking dice, see our BDSM games for couples.

    18. Simon says

One partner gives orders (“Simon says take off your shirt”); the other follows only when “Simon says” comes first. Mistakes earn a playful consequence, like a spank or a delay. It’s a perfect first taste of power exchange.

    19. Don’t move

One partner has to stay completely still, hands above their head, while the other teases them. Moving resets the clock or earns a penalty. Soft restraints make it easier, or harder, depending on how you look at it.

    20. Rule of the night

Write a handful of simple rules on cards: “Ask permission before touching”, “Call me sir or ma’am”, “Hands behind your back unless told otherwise”. One partner draws a rule and follows it for the evening; the other enforces it with teasing or a playful consequence. It’s power exchange in small, easy-to-stop doses, and our guide to BDSM rules and protocols has more ideas.

    21. The edging game

Bring your partner close to orgasm, then stop. Count how many times they can last, or set a target before release is allowed. Our guides to edging and orgasm denial explain how to do it well.

    22. Roleplay scenario cards

Write a few simple scenarios on cards, like strangers at a bar, a strict teacher and an adult student, a massage appointment, or a burglar and a homeowner, and draw one at random (or let our roleplay scenario generator pick for you). Set a time limit and stay in character. Agree on anything off-limits before you start, especially in scenarios with a power imbalance.

    Games for long-distance couples

Before you play apart, agree what’s okay to send. Only share photos or videos you’d be comfortable with if they ever got out (many people leave their face out of anything intimate), use a messaging app you trust, and never forward or save what your partner sends without asking.

    23. Texting truth or dare

Play truth or dare over text through the day. Dares can be things to do and report back on (“Text me the moment you think about me”) or things to save for the next time you’re together. The slow pace is half the fun: a dare sent at lunchtime has all afternoon to build.

    24. Play together on a video call

Our free games run in your browser, so you can both open the same one on a video call: take turns with truth or dare, roll the sex dice, or each fill in the yes/no/maybe list and compare answers. Nothing you choose is sent to us.

    25. Who’s in control?

With an app-controlled vibrator, one partner can control the other’s toy from anywhere. Play at home, in private, with a simple rule: the person wearing it can say “stop” or take it off at any time, and the person in control has to check in. It’s a fun way to feel close when you’re apart.

How to choose a game you’ll both enjoy

    • Match the mood. Talking games (truth or dare, the hot seat) suit a lazy evening; touch games (massage roulette, hot and cold) suit when you want to be close; the kinkier games suit when you’ve both said you’re up for more.
    • Start a notch milder than you think. It’s easier to turn the heat up mid-game than to recover from a dare that landed badly.
    • Take turns picking. If one of you always chooses, the games start to reflect only one person’s tastes.
    • Keep a favorites list. After each game night, jot down what worked. Next time you’ll have a shortlist ready.

Card games, board games, and apps

Our free online games include Kinky Never Have I Ever and Kink Bingo, alongside sex dice and a truth or dare game with themed packs, from Date Night to Toy Box and Strip. If you’d like something else ready-made, there are plenty of couples’ card games, board games, and apps, from conversation-starter decks to kinky dare games. Look for ones that let you filter or remove cards you don’t want, and that include talking prompts as well as actions. The best ones get you talking about what you like, not just working through a list.

    Afterward

Even playful games can bring up big feelings, especially the kinkier ones. Spend a few minutes on aftercare: cuddling, water, and talking about which games you’d play again. If something didn’t land, say so kindly, and cross it off the list for next time.

    Frequently asked questions

What are good sex games for couples who are new to this?

Start with games that are mostly talking and touching: kinky truth or dare, would-you-rather, the fantasy jar, or a slow foreplay timer game. They build anticipation without pushing either of you into anything, and they're easy to stop or skip.

Do we need to buy anything?

No. Every game here works with things most people already have: a deck of cards, dice, a timer, paper, and something to use as a blindfold. Card and board games made for couples are fun extras, but they're not necessary.

What if a card or dare is something I don't want to do?

Skip it, no penalty. Agree before you start that any prompt can be passed or swapped, and that a safeword stops the game completely. A game only works if both people feel free to say no.

How do sex card games work?

Most sex card games give you a deck of prompts, like questions, dares, or actions, that you take turns drawing. You can make your own with index cards: each of you writes a few prompts you'd enjoy, then shuffle them together.

Are foreplay games different from sex games?

Foreplay games focus on building anticipation, often with rules like 'no hands' or 'no sex until the timer ends'. Many couples find these the most fun, because the waiting is the point.

Can we play sex games long distance?

Yes. Truth or dare works well over text, our free online games work on a video call, and some couples use an app-controlled toy so one partner can tease the other from miles away. Agree on what's okay to send or show first, and play somewhere private.
